UNITED FEATURE SYNDICATE
BEGINNING July 7, Roger Howarth will be seen on "As the World Turns" in the role of Paul Ryan. In the storyline, Paul left town after he was betrayed by his fiancee, Rose (Martha Byrne), his best friend Dusty (Grayson McCouch), and even his mother, Barbara (Colleen Zenk Pinter). When Paul returns to Oakdale, it's a sure bet he will be out for revenge, and with Howarth in the role, Paul will definitely be a force to be reckoned with.
Executive Producer Chris Goutman said in a statement, "Roger is an exciting addition to our cast. His character is the offspring of two of Oakdale's most nefarious citizens (his father is James Stenbeck, played by Anthony Herrera) -- and Roger brings an intensity to the character that will undoubtedly put fear in those closest to Paul, and leave the fans wanting more."

Executive in Charge of Production for Procter & Gamble Productions Mary Alice Dwyer-Dobbin added, "When we decided to bring back the character of Paul Ryan, Roger was top on everyone's wish list. I was first struck by his incredible talent when, as executive vice president of ABC Daytime, I was part of the team responsible for bringing Roger to ABC. I couldn't be happier to have him join the talented cast of 'As the World Turns.'"
Anyone who has watched "One Life to Live" remembers Howarth from his Emmy Award-winning (1994 in the Outstanding Younger Actor category) portrayal of the dastardly -- later, turned "fairly" nice guy -- Todd Manning on that show. Howarth also appeared on "Loving" as Kent Winslow, "Prey" as Randall Lynch and most recently as Professor Greg Hetson on "Dawson's Creek."
'Port Charles' canceled by ABC
"Port Charles" had been canceled by ABC. The last air date will be Oct. 3. No other particulars were available at press time.
Mya plays herself on 'Passions'
On July 24, recording star/actress/dancer Mya -- who appeared in the critically acclaimed Oscar-winning film, "Chicago" -- guest stars as herself in an episode of "Passions." In that episode, Mya will perform her new single, "My Love Is Like . . . Wo," from her upcoming album, "Moodring" (Interscope/A&M).
Her appearance highlights the start of "Hot L.A. Passions," the show's new summer story arc, which centers around a visit to Los Angeles by six core characters from Harmony. In the new storyline, music producer Chad (Charles Divins) and Whitney (Brook Kerr) enjoy a romantic evening at a Los Angeles beach club where Mya is performing "My Love Is Like . . . Wo."
