Alameda County to auction parcels online
0 Comments | Oakland Tribune, Feb 4, 2004 | by STAFF REPORTS
Alameda County property auctions are entering the Internet age.
The county will hold an online auction to sell tax delinquent parcels of property from March 15-18, county Treasurer-Tax Collector Donald White announced this week.
It will be the county's first foray into online auctions, White said, although 12 other California counties currently auction property on the Internet.
"By utilizing the Internet, we hope to expand our potential buyer base, sell a greater number of properties, increase the sale price of the properties, and reduce administrative costs," White said in a statement.

The properties will be sold using Bid4Assets Inc., an advisory disposition and advisory services company. Interested parties may preview the real estate online at www.bid4assets.com beginning in mid- February, White said. If a potential bidder does not have Internet access, an offline bid form is available at the tax collector's office, 1221 Oak St., Oakland.
The sale properties are located in Oakland. Prospective bidders must pre-qualify with a 10 percent deposit.
More information on the online auction is available on the tax collector's Web site, www.acgov.org/treasurer/index.shtml or by calling 272-6803.
