Ferry goes on summer schedule

Oakland Tribune,  May 14, 2004  by STAFF REPORTS

OAKLAND -- There's no better sign summer has arrived than all the ferries sailing in to dock at Oakland's Jack London Square and Alameda.

With the traditional start of summer just around the corner, the Oakland-Alameda Ferry is beginning its summer schedule Saturday with weekend service to San Francisco and a daily trip to Angel Island.

The service will begin Saturday with a 9 a.m. departure from Jack London Square followed by a 9:10 departure from the Alameda Ferry Terminal. Eight ferries will follow throughout the day, with the last departure to San Francisco leaving Oakland at 10:30 p.m.

The Angel Island Ferry will leave Oakland at 9 a.m. and arrive at Angel Island about 10:10 a.m. The return to Oakland and Alameda departs Angel Island at 3:10 p.m.

This schedule will continue through Oct. 31.

The summer schedule also includes an additional weekday morning departure from Oakland at 7:40 and Alameda at 7:50. This additional ferry will continue until Nov. 5.

The ferry service will also offer the summer schedule during three holidays this summer, including Memorial Day, July 4 and Labor Day.
