Anderson has lead in NHRA Nationals

SONOMA -- Greg Anderson moved into position to tie the NHRA Pro Stock record for victories in a season, leading qualifying Saturday for the FRAM Autolite Nationals at Infineon Raceway.

Anderson, who has won 11 times in 14 events this season, raced to his 12th No. 1 qualifying effort of the year and the 28th of his career, driving his Pontiac Grand Am to a track-record run of 6.693 seconds at 206.01 mph.

Doug Kalitta, John Force and Angelle Savoie also led their divisions in the $1.5 million event.

Kalitta took his second No. 1 position of the season and 17th of his career, taking the top position in Top Fuel at 4.574 and 323.66.

Force raced to the 120th No. 1 award of his career in Funny Car with a run at 4.823 at 318.84, and Savoie earned her second qualifying award of the season and the 36th of her Pro Stock Bike career at 7.081 and 188.10.
