Berkeley gets fire grant

BERKELEY -- Berkeley has received a sizable federal grant to reduce the likelihood of urban wildland fires in the Berkeley hills, city officials announced this past week.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded the city a $413,000 fire prevention and safety grant. Berkeley will provide $177,000 in matching funds.
Representatives from FEMA will present the money to city officials at 11:30 a.m. today at Fire Station
No. 2, 2029 Berkeley Way.
