The San Francisco 49ers are scheduled to hold a workout today for free-agent defensive end Marques Douglas, according to an NFL source.

Douglas, 28, has started all but one game the past two seasons for the Baltimore Ravens. The 6-foot-2, 290-pound Douglas had a total of 10 sacks the past two years in Baltimore, where he played under defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, the first-year coach of the 49ers.

Douglas, who played at Howard University, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with New Orleans in 2000. Douglas, who spent the past four seasons with the Ravens, already has visited Denver and Cleveland in his free-agent travels.

In other 49ers news, a contingent from the team is scheduled to attend a private workout today by Utah quarterback Alex Smith, one of the candidates to be the first overall selection 18 days from now in the NFL Draft.

A team spokesman confirmed that among those from the 49ers scheduled to attend the workout are receivers Brandon Lloyd and Arnaz Battle, who will be catching passes from Smith.

Also scheduled to make the trip to Utah are Nolan, personnel director Scot McCloughan, offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy and quarterbacks coach Jim Hostler.

Cal quarterback Aaron Rodgers is scheduled to visit the 49ers' Santa Clara facility in eight days. Michigan receiver Braylon Edwards and Miami cornerback Antrel Rolle are slated for visits Monday.
