Similar schools rankings revised

0 Comments | Oakland Tribune, May 17, 2006 | by ,

State education officials released revised data Tuesday showing how each school ranks compared to schools with similar student and instructional characteristics.

The 2005 similar schools rankings -- initially released March 21 - - was subsequently pulled off the state Department of Education's Web site after officials discovered the information was incorrect.

An ethnic category was omitted in the calculations, possibly skewing the rankings.

The statewide rankings for each school were not affected by the error and have remained on the state Department of Education Web site.
