Betrayed

ON A momentous day, when the passing of a bogus "immigration" bill was accompanied by a visit from a British prime minister, I find it most fitting to declare, "Never in the course of human events have so many been betrayed by so few."

Wrong on Corbett

AS A former Fremont resident, and former staffer and ardent supporter of Ellen Corbett, I want to correct some misstatements made by Mr. John Smith in his May 24 letter.

I, along with many other former staffers, both in the district and in Sacramento, are very much in support of Corbett's campaign for the Senate. She has been active in the Democratic Party all her life. I can personally attest she has always participated with all the Democratic clubs in the county.

Moreover, Corbett encouraged me to help start the Bay Area Iranian-American Democrats and encouraged another staffer to help found CALDO, the Latino Democratic Club. She has been an inspiration to many young Democrats like myself, and for that I applaud and thank her.

I find it interesting that in Mr. Smith's haste to denounce negative campaigning, his letter is a full-out assault on Corbett. His misstatements compound the problem. Perhaps Mr. Smith should practice what he preaches and not resort to baseless attacks on Corbett's credentials.

I, for one, am proud to support Corbett and look forward to campaigning on her behalf.
