Cal State MBA program in 'best' list

HAYWARD -- The Princeton Review counts California State University, East Bay's College of Business and Economics among the 282 top business schools in the United States.
"Best 282 Business Schools," which is scheduled to hit bookstores in October, took into consideration admissions standards, career placement services and other institutional data, as well as the academic offerings and student satisfaction surveys, said Chaitra Ramanathan, a student survey manager for The Princeton Review.
The two-page profile -- which has not been publically released -- focuses on the school's MBA program. Last year, The Princeton Review released a similar book featuring 237 schools, which didn't include CSUEB. The Princeton Review now has some 200 publications, including a list of "Best in the West" colleges, which included CSUEB in 2004 and 2005.

Cal State East Bay's business college has about 700 graduate students, 2,500 undergraduates and 60 full-time faculty, said its dean, John Kohl.
"It's a very nice honor for the faculty," Kohl said. "When you come right down to it, they're the ones who are responsible for our success."
The Princeton Review would not release any information about CSUEB's ranking on the list.
