Whose job is it, anyway?

WHERE AT THE PARK entrance does it state that the park is a child care or baby-sitting station? Should it not be the responsibility of the child's parent or guardian that brought him into the park to watch the child?
That is what is wrong with the system: The attitude is, bring the child to play or school and now they are yours -- watch them and protect them so I don't have to. That is why children are what they are today: disrespectful, discourteous and with no knowledge of the word "no."

THE OTHER DAY I was walking down Burlingame Avenue and decided to stop by the Copenhagen Bakery. As I was enjoying my Rum Log and looking around as always, trying to absorb the pleasant energy this place has, I noticed a sign that said: "Happy 30th Anniversary, Copenhagen Bakery." Wow, a sweet 30 years!
I'd like to be one of the many grateful customers to offer my sincere congratulations. When I first took my friend to have a dessert there, she was literally flipping over Princess Cake and Napoleon Hat, Coconut Mazarin and the rest of the impressive selection they offer. We bought three different cakes, and I suppose we must have looked like some very happy food critics, because every bite we took, we'd eagerly examine it: what it's made of, what it looks like and what it's going to taste like. In the middle of our feast we caught a glimpse of two elderly ladies sitting in the table next to us. They were having a kick out of watching two Europeans going crazy over their full plate. During our 10 years in the U.S., we haven't found a better bakery that would satisfy our sweet tooth in such a way.
Whenever I meet new people and mention I live in Burlingame, most of the time we end up raving about Copenhagen. Just mix a little bit of European sentiment with mouthwatering cakes and unique ambiance, and you have a recipe for a local icon. San Francisco has the Golden Gate Bridge -- Burlingame has Copenhagen. Happy Anniversary!
