Souza runs for 132 yards as Menlo routs Lewis & Clark

The Menlo College football team got its first win of the season Saturday in a big way.
Shawn Souza ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Oaks to a 51-14 win over Lewis & Clark in Atherton.
Menlo (1-5, 1-1 Northwest Conference) rushed for 335 yards and outgained Lewis & Clark (0-4) 489-268.
Menlo led 14-0 at halftime, but the Pioneers scored two touchdowns in the first six minutes of the third quarter to tie the score 14-14.
But the Oaks proceeded to run off 37 unanswered points.
Quarterback Angel Molina scored on a 14-yard run, then threw a 33- yard touchdown pass to Erik Rasmussen to make it 28-14.

Molina and Tony Rehn combined to complete 15 of 19 passes for 154 yards. Dino Aranciba had 11 receptions for 74 yards. Alvin Foster had two rushing touchdowns. Asti Merino had two interceptions and Nick D'Antonio had one.
Menlo plays at Pacific Lutheran in Tacoma, Wash., on Saturday.
Prep cross country
Carlmont's Brad Surh took first place in the Division II race at the Clovis Invitational.
Surh was timed in 15 minutes, 40 seconds on the 3.1-mile course at Woodward Park to lead the Scots to fifth place. The other scorers for Carlmont were Austin Logie (18th, 16:31), Chris Pedro (41st, 16:54), Sean Callahan (47th, 16:56) and Chris Chow (57th, 17:06).
At the Artichoke Invitational in Half Moon Bay, Bryce Williamson of the host school ran 12:44 to take fifth in the small schools race on the 2.4-mile course at the high school.
Menlo-Atherton took fourth in the second large-schools race behind Andy Del Calvo (15th, 13:12), Adin Vaesworn (18th, 13:16), Joe Ocon (21st, 13:19), Jeff Hester (23rd, 13:25) and Ryan Scandlyn (27th, 13:35).
M-A's Suzanne Eldredge had the fastest time for a County girls runner, taking seventh in the second large-schools race in 16:34. Aragon's Ziva Shulaker ran 16:48 in the first girls race.
Notre Dame took fifth as a team in the second girls race paced by Gina Erle (18th, 18:03).
