Will Tuna, Moss mix in Miami?
0 Comments | Oakland Tribune, Jan 7, 2008
YOU'RE FAMILIAR with the phrase: Wait 'til next year? Well, trash it. It just doesn't pertain to the NFL anymore.
The 2008 season already has begun for 24 teams. And while the other eight continue playing, you know they've got people watching their talent-starved rivals, plotting counterattacks.
What's going to be different about 2008? Based on current needs, I have one fantasy-related suggestion as an acquisition for each NFL franchise -- either a free agent or draft pick (teams listed in unofficial draft order):
1. Dolphins: WR Randy Moss, Patriots. Most obvious need: Anything breathing.
2. Rams: WR DeSean Jackson, Cal. Most obvious need: Turn back the clock on Isaac Bruce.

3. Raiders: WR Bernard Berrian, Bears. Most obvious need: 2007 version of Moss.
4. Falcons: QB Matt Ryan, Boston College. Most obvious need: A do- over on last year's first round, when Brady Quinn was available.
5. Chiefs: WR Patrick Crayton, Cowboys. Most obvious need: A passing game.
6. Jets: RB Darren McFadden, Arkansas. Most obvious need: A newsmaker for the tabloids.
7. Patriots: RB Marion Barber, Cowboys. Most obvious need: Re- sign Moss.
8. Ravens: QB Andre Woodson, Kentucky. Most obvious need: Mike Martz (and the quarterback he'll draft).
9. Bengals: TE L.J. Smith, Eagles. Most obvious need: A pass play that involves the tight end.
10. Saints: WR Jerry Porter, Raiders. Most obvious need: To offset the potential loss of Devery Henderson and David Patten in free agency.
11. Bills: WR Malcolm Kelly, Oklahoma. Most obvious need: An indoor home.
12. Broncos: WR D.J. Hackett, Seahawks. Most obvious need: To move on from Javon Walker.
13. Panthers: QB Brian Brohm, Louisville. Most obvious need: QB insurance.
14. Bears: QB Derek Anderson, Cleveland. Most obvious need: Cleveland's other quarterback (Quinn).
15. Lions: RB Julius Jones, Cowboys. Most obvious need: A tag- team partner for their holdover Jones (Kevin).
16. Cardinals: RB Michael Turner, Chargers. Most obvious need: Lightning to pair with thunder (Edgerrin James).
17. Vikings: WR Limas Sweed, Texas. Most obvious need: Anything with hands.
18. Texans: RB Felix Jones, Arkansas. Most obvious need: To waive Ahman Green and Ron Dayne.
19. Eagles: TE Ben Troupe, Titans. Most obvious need: Cushion the possible loss of Smith.
20. Buccaneers: K Brandon Coutu, Georgia. Most obvious need: Firepower.
21. Redskins: WR Andre Davis, Texans. Most obvious need: Someone to play when Santana Moss gets hurt.
22. Cowboys: RB Justin Fargas, Raiders. Most obvious need: One back if Jones leaves, two if Barber follows.
23. Seahawks: QB Colt Brennan, Hawaii. Most obvious need: A Matt Hasselbeck clone.
24. Steelers: RB Jonathan Stewart, Oregon. Most obvious need: Someone better than Najeh Davenport.
25. Titans: WR Adarius Bowman, Oklahoma State. Most obvious need: A Vince Young hook-up.
26. Giants: QB Joe Flacco, Delaware. Most obvious need: For Eli Manning to get better.
27. Chargers: QB Dennis Dixon, Oregon. Most obvious need: Better QB play.
28. Jaguars: WR Bryant Johnson, Cardinals. Most obvious need: A dependable receiver.
29. Packers: RB Jamal Lewis, Browns. Most obvious need: Convince Barber to leave Cowboys.
30. 49ers: WR Marcus Henry, Kansas. Most obvious need: Their first-round pick back.
31. Browns: RB Chris Johnson, East Carolina. Most obvious need: Re-sign Anderson (or pray Quinn is ready).
32. Colts: TE Martin Rucker, Missouri. Most obvious need: Keep Peyton Manning ticking.
