DAVIS -- Southbound Capitol Corridor Express trains are now running normally this morning, four hours after a train headed to Oakland and San Jose struck someone on the tracks near Davis, Amtrak officials said.

The identity of the victim in the incident, which occurred at 4:38 am., has not been released.

Capitol Corridor Train 521 from Sacramento was delayed at the site for 3 1/2 hours while authorities investigated the scene, Amtrak spokesman Karina Romero said.

A second train, Number 523, due to leave Sacramento, was held at the station. The track was cleared and trains began running toward San Jose and Oakland shortly before 7 a.m., Romero said.

Passengers can call 800-USA-RAIL or visit Amtrak.com for schedule information and train status updates.
