DETROIT -- Rich Peverley's second-period goal broke a tie and lifted the Nashville Predators to a 3-1 win over the Red Wings on Saturday to snap Detroit's five-game winning streak.

Dan Hamhuis and Jerred Smithson also scored for Nashville, fighting for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Dan Ellis made 34 saves for the Predators.

Niklas Kronwall scored the lone goal for NHL-leading Detroit.

Canucks 4, Stars 3

DALLAS -- Brendan Morrison scored the tiebreaking goal early in the third period and had two assists to send Vancouver past Dallas after the Canucks wasted an early three-goal lead. Mike Modano notched his 526th career goal -- tops among U.S.-born players -- for the Stars.

Ducks 5, Blues 2

ANAHEIM -- Rob Niedermayer broke open a tie game with two third- period goals, Mathieu Schneider had a goal and two assists, and Anaheim beat St. Louis without suspended defenseman Chris Pronger to extend its club-record home winning streak to nine games.

Pronger was suspended eight games Saturday by the NHL for stomping on the leg of Vancouver's Ryan Kesler.

DENVER -- Martin Brodeur stopped 24 shots in reaching 40 wins for a record seventh time, Jay Pandolfo added a goal and an assist, and New Jersey beat Colorado.

BOSTON -- Andrew Ference tied the game with 27 seconds left in regulation, and Aaron Ward won it for Boston with 2:17 into overtime as the Bruins beat Philadelphia.

MONTREAL -- Jaroslav Halak stopped 30 shots for his first shutout of the season for Montreal, which took over the Northeast Division lead from idle Ottawa.

TORONTO -- Jason Pominville and Jochen Hecht each had a goal and two assists, and Buffalo moved within one point of the Eastern Conference's postseason cutoff.

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Niklas Backstrom's shutout and Marian Gaborik's 200th NHL goal sparked Minnesota.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Dwayne Roloson made 38 saves in his first start in six weeks to lead Edmonton past Phoenix.
