Traffic flow resumes on Bay Bridge after morning crash
0 Comments | Oakland Tribune, Mar 18, 2008 | by Robert Salonga
Commuters on the Bay Bridge are traveling relatively unimpeded after a multi-vehicle crash this morning stymied San Francisco- bound traffic, the California Highway Patrol said.
Average speeds on the bridge have been gradually rising over the past three hours after five vehicles collided east of Fremont Street around 5:50 a.m., the CHP said.
The far right lane was immediately blocked while emergency vehicles trying to get to the scene caused congestion in the remaining four lanes. Information on any injuries suffered was not immediately available.
The roadway was cleared at 7:10 a.m. Traffic continued to move at a crawl for two hours while the residual backup dissipated.
