UCN defeats Treeview to advance to championship game vs SLZN

SAN LORENZO -- Justin Ruybal hit a grand slam in the top of the sixth inning to highlight a seven-run inning in the final frame as Union City National advanced to the championship game with a 9-2 win over Treeview in the losers bracket final of the District 45 Majors All-Stars at San Lorenzo Park.

UCN will take on San Lorenzo National at San Lorenzo Park at 10 a.m. on Saturday. San Lorenzo must be beaten twice.

Nick Landavazo threw a six-hitter and had 10 strikeouts to silence the potent Treeview hitting attack.

Treeview starting pitcher Gabriel Ortiz went four strong innings before giving way to Jose Gomez in the fifth inning after reaching the 85-pitch limit.

Ortiz allowed just three hits and a two runs (one earned) while striking out six.

Jason Childs went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Esias went 2-for-2 for Union City National Gabriel Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a double and Gomez had a pair of doubles for Treeview.

9-10 YEAR OLDS

David Pelayo went 3-for-3 with three RBI and scored three times as Union City National advanced to the championship game with a 15- 1 win over Union City American in the losers bracket final. UCN will take on Treeview on Saturday at 10 a.m. at San Lorenzo Park and must defeat Treeview twice to win the title.

Adrey Pace went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI as Union City National scored 13 times in the third inning to blow the game wide- open.

Catcher August Pierre had an RBI double for UCA in the third inning.
