Community meeting Wednesday on Cal-Tech clean up

The Alameda County Public Health Department and city officials are holding a community meeting today to discuss the cleanup activity that will soon take place at the old Cal-Tech Metal Finishers site at 841 31st St. in West Oakland.
The meeting is being presented by the health department, Supervisor Keith Carson's office, the city of Oakland and the West Oakland Environmental Indicators Project. It will be held at 6 p.m. at Marcus Foster Elementary School, 2850 West St.
Officials will discuss cleanup measures at the site and explain mitigation steps that will protect local residents against possible health risks. Officials from both the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state Department of Toxic Substances Control will attend.
