Seattle eyes another bowl game with a Pac-10 tie-in

Even with 34 bowl games already on the college football calendar, the director of the Seattle Sports Commission wants to add another.
Ralph Morton said his group is in the early stages of trying to bring a bowl game back to Seattle. He hopes to develop a relationship with the Pac-10 for a game in 2010. The conference already has seven bowl tie-ins.
Seattle had a two-year run hosting a bowl game, but it ended in 2003 when financial backing dried up.
"We're not trying to resurrect the old game," Morton said Tuesday. "Our big plan is to put together a high-tier bowl game."

Florida: Two more players will miss the season after tearing knee ligaments. Sophomore offensive lineman Jim Barrie and freshman linebacker Brendan Beal are the fourth and fifth players to tear their ACLs. "Five ACLs, that's a tough deal," coach Urban Meyer said. Senior tight end Cornelius Ingram tore his left ACL during Florida's second day of practice last week. Junior safety Dorian Munroe and senior safety John Curtis tore ACLs in July.
UCLA: Quarterback Ben Olson had surgery to place a new screw and do a bone graft in his broken right foot. Olson, a senior whose career has been interrupted by a string of injuries and had sustained the same injury in spring practice, is expected to miss at least two months and five games. Olson re-injured his foot at practice Saturday when he faked a handoff and took a misstep. Junior college transfer Kevin Craft and redshirt freshman Chris Forcier are expected to compete for the starting job in Olson's absence.
Georgia: Trinton Sturdivant, who started all 13 games last season as a freshman, will have season-ending reconstructive surgery after injuring his left knee in the team's first preseason scrimmage Monday.
Pittsburgh: The Panthers lost starting defensive end Doug Fulmer to a knee injury, the third year in a row injuries have ended his season. Fulmer tore a ligament in his left knee and will need surgery.
Basketball
Davidson: The Wildcats bench will be loaded with McKillops this season. Coach Bob McKillop has hired his son, Matt, as an assistant coach. The coach's younger son, Brendan, will be a sophomore guard on the team.
Duke: Associate athletic director Jacki Silar has been chosen chairwoman of the NCAA Division I women's committee for 2008-09.
Women's soccer
Stanford: The Cardinal was ranked No. 10 in the NSCAA/adidas preseason poll released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Cal was 17th and Santa Clara 22nd. USC was No. 1, followed by UCLA. Earlier in the day, Stanford was selected to win the Pac-10 by the conference coaches, with UCLA second and USC third.
Wrestling
Nebraska: Two Cornhuskers wrestlers, including one who won an NCAA title in 2007, have been dismissed from the team after posing naked for videos and photographs on an Internet pornography site. Paul Donahoe and Kenny Jordan were let go three days after a blog posted images of them taken from Fratmentv.com, a Web site featuring naked or partially clothed male athletes. Donahoe placed third in the NCAA Tournament in 2008 after winning a title the year before at 125 pounds. John Marsh, who operates Fratmentv.com and two related Web sites catering to gay men, said he's spoken with Donahoe and Jordan and that both indicated they want to continue as college wrestlers.
