Danielle Geong of Piedmont, daughter of William and Mary Geong, graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from American University in Washington, D.C., in May 2008.

She served as the deputy director of the Women's Initiative arm of the AU Student Government.

As a legal intern with Lichtman, Trister and Ross, Geong researched voter registration and assisted with corporate registration for advocacy organizations.

She has also worked for the American University Multicultural Affairs office and interned with former Assemblywoman Wilma Chan, D- Oakland.

Geong works for a nonprofit women's organization in Washington, D.C., as a campus event planner.

Alison Woodhull Frizell, a Dartmouth College student in the class of 2008 from Piedmont, has been cited for outstanding academic achievement in College Course 2 during the spring 2008 term.

Frizell is the daughter of William Frizell and Ann Frizell.

Members of the Dartmouth faculty are invited to submit citation reports only when a student's work is sufficiently distinguished to merit special recognition.

Such citations are rare; typically, only a few undergraduates receive citations each term.

Dartmouth, the ninth oldest college in the nation, was founded in 1769.

The following students graduated from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Co.

Adam Burt Liss graduated with a bachelor's degree in English: Film Studies. Liss's parents are Bonnie Burt and Mark Liss of Piedmont. Liss's degree was granted in May 2008.

Allison McMahon Rowe graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology. Rowe's parents are Jude and Richard Rowe of Piedmont. Rowe's degree was granted in May 2008.

Jonathan Viel of Piedmont, a student in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences at the University of Vermont in Burlington, made the dean's list for the spring 2007 semester.

Viel's major is animal sciences.

To be named to the dean's list, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.
