Academics
Christopher William Lewis of Pleasanton and Sean Patrick McVay of Alamo recently graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Christopher matriculated with a B.S. in business, cum laude, and Sean with a B.S. in health and sport studies.
Two local students have qualified for the Laureate Society at Whitworth University, Spokane, Wash. They are Tyler Thralls of Livermore and Laura Richardson of Pleasanton. They qualified for the academic honor society by maintaining a grade-point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.

Chelsea Roberts of Pleasanton was named to the dean's List for the spring 2008 semester at Washington University, St. Louis. Chelsea is a graduate of Monte Vista High School, Danville and is enrolled in the university's School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Hammad Hammad of Livermore graduated from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. Hammad attended Livermore High School.
Vanessa Eva Stetson Rodriguez of Pleasanton and Julie Elizabeth Managan of Danville were named to the dean's List at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tenn.
Accomplishments
Nicole Powers was named an All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. The USAA Scholar Award Program is offered to deserving students who excel in academic disciplines. Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor or other qualified sponsor are accepted. Nicole is the daughter of Lisa and Bill Powers of Danville and a graduate of San Ramon Valley High School.
Military
Air Force Airman 1st Class Benjiman P. Jennings graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Benjiman is the son of Sue McChallough of Livermore.
Air Force Airman Jonathan D. Counts graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Jonathan is the son of Jim Counts of Livermore and a 2007 graduate of Granada High School.
Air Force Airman Lyle T. Lee graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Lyle is the son of Mark Lee of Livermore and a 2007 graduate of Livermore Adult Education High School.
Army Maj. Gen. Don T. Riley has assumed duties as the deputy commanding general and deputy chief of engineers, U.S. Army Corps of engineers, Washington, D.C. Don is the son of Katherine J. Riley of Livermore and a 1969 graduate of Granada High School, Livermore. He received his bachelor's degree in 1973 from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. He earned his master's degree in civil engineering in 1980 from UC Berkeley.
