Brady

Army Reserve Pvt. Matt Brady, the son of Maria Nelson of Martinez and grandson of Patrick Nelson of Clayton, has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus, Ga.

During nine weeks of training, he received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions.

Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.

Brady is a 2003 graduate of Horizons School, an independent high school study program in Pleasant Hill of the Mt. Diablo school district.

Caldwell

Army National Guard Pvt. Donald W. Caldwell, the son of Diane Caldwell of Pacheco and Timothy Caldwell of Reno, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training. He also received instruction in drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Caldwell is a 2007 graduate of Reno High School.
