The Concord Police Department's crime prevention show, "Street Smart," is televised live at 7 p.m. the first and third Thursday of each month on Comcast Cable Channel 28 and on Astound Broadband Channel 29, with each show highlighting a different neighborhood in the city.
Hosting tonight's "Street Smart" are officers Steve Harn and Beth Long of the Concord Police Department. The show's goal is to educate and inform viewers about the police department, crime-related issues and items of civic interest.
On this week's show, Concord police Lt. Tim Runyon will be discussing the new police officers recently hired by the department.

In addition, Shayne Kaleo, team leader for Project Hope, and Roberta Chambers, regional director of homeless services, will be talking about the project's homeless outreach program. Project Hope works with the homeless to provide food, water and a variety of services to help them get off the street.
Due to circumstances sometimes beyond the control of the "Street Smart" production staff, all listed guests and show topics are subject to change without notice.
"Street Smart" also will be continuing its regular segments -- exceptional people, ARF adoptable pets and traffic safety tips -- along with going live with Officer Ron Turner during the music in Todos Santos Plaza
On the hourlong program, officers also will provide information about how to build safer communities, and will profile the area of the city that includes Market Street, Meadow Lane, Belmont Road and Lodge Drive. Crime statistics for the neighborhood for the past six months will be reviewed, along with crime prevention and public safety tips.
The department's "Most Wanted" segment, as well as the "Jail Log," will be shown, informing residents of investigations and arrests the Concord Police Department is currently seeking to make, and highlighting some of the arrests that were made over the past few weeks.
Viewers are encouraged to call in with questions to the phone number given on the show.
"Street Smart" is rebroadcast at 8 p.m. every second and fourth Thursday of the month on Comcast Channel 28 and Astound Channel 29. It is also replayed every morning, except Sundays, at 6 a.m., and at 2 and 6 p.m. Saturdays. Residents have many opportunities to watch the show and to make themselves "... "Street Smart."
Street Smart is produced by the Concord Police Department and made possible by the city of Concord.
