Layaway makes comeback this holiday season

Layaway hasn't quite gone away. In fact, the retail practice of having a store hold an item until you have paid for the merchandise is making a bit of a comeback at a time when many consumers will be struggling financially during the holiday shopping season. That said, only a few national retail chains offer layaway, which pretty much went away with the advent of credit cards.

Consumers can lay- away merchandise at Kmart, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and Burlington Coat Factory stores.
