OAKLAND - A 19-year-old Berkeley man was shot to death this morning outside a North Oakland liquor store.
He was identified as Larry Spencer, who police said was a student at Western Career College.
The shooting happened about 12:46 a.m. today outside a liquor store in the 5300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way, a block from Children's Hospital.
Police were trying to determine if Spencer had been in the store before he was shot and where the gunman was when he shot Spencer.
When police arrived, people were trying to aid Spencer but whether they were with him when he was shot was not known, Sgt. Todd Crutchfield said.
