Academics

Daniel Lawrence Callahan of Danville has graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a B.S. degree in business administration.

Matthew Palmer Kwan has been awarded the Hypercube Award at Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine. The Hypercube Award acknowledges promising undergraduates who are going on to research or teaching careers in chemistry. Kwan is a graduate of Foothill High School, Pleasanton.

Kelsy Moss, Danville, San Ramon Valley High School and Mark Ringle, San Ramon, of California High School were honored with the Students of Excellence Awards for their outstanding achievement in their Regional Occupational Program classes. They were each awarded a certificate of merit and $200.

accomplishments

Dong Seung Shin, San Ramon, won the 11th Congressional District art competition with his painting titled "Home of the San Francisco Crabs." Shin's art will hang for one year in the Cannon Tunnel, a busy walkway inside the U.S. Capitol building used daily by members of Congress and visitors.

Junction Avenue Middle School, Livermore, won two top awards at the "Music In the Park" competition in Santa Clara. Both the orchestra and band won first-place trophies under the direction of Phil Halseth. Torrey Kapust, Danville, was selected as one of 20 talented winners of the SeeSaw Book Club's "Go Wild! Coloring Contest" from more than 15,000 entries.
