Junior Volunteer awards
The John Muir Medical Center-Concord Campus Volunteers announced that Junior Volunteer Special Recognition Awards were recently presented.
The students, their schools and the amount of the awards were:
Fernando Morales, Ygnacio Valley High School, $400; John Rabago, De La Salle High School, $300; Brittin Sellers, College Park High, $300; Solomon Chem, College Park High, $200; Rachel Horton, Concord High, $200; Taylor Jones, College Park High, $200; Shannon Pfeiffer, Clayton Valley High, $200; Lizette Sanabria, home-schooled; $200; Nicole Petrak, Berean Christian, $100; and Alex Lozano, Concord High, $100.

Williams
Army Reserve Master Sgt. Traci K. Williams, the daughter of Delores Reynolds of Concord and Albert Williams of Washington, participated in the first college graduation ceremony held for American service members in Iraq at the Al Faw Palace at Camp Victory, Baghdad.
As one of 79 students from 21 different schools who received their degrees during the ceremony, she received an associate of arts degree from the University of Maryland.
Williams, who has served in the military for more than 18 years, is an assistance contracting officer representative, assigned to the Intelligence and Security Command at Fort Belvior in Fairfax, Va.
Tomasulo
Celeste Noel Tomasulo, the daughter of Anthony and Michele Tomasulo of Concord, participated in May 17 commencement exercises at Hollins University in Roanoke, Va.
She received a bachelor of arts degree in English and graduated cum laude (with honors).
Tomasulo is a graduate of Clayton Valley High School.
Mitchelson
Navy Ensign Matthew A. Mitchelson, the son of Andrew and Nancy Mitchelson of Concord, recently graduated from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.
He successfully completed four years of intensive academic, physical and professional training. Upon graduation, he was commissioned to his current rank in the U.S. Navy.
Mitchelson, a 2001 graduate of Concord High School, joined the Navy in August 2002.
Sallee
Jenee Sallee, the daughter of Lori Jean Benadum Sallee of Concord and Steven Wade Sallee of Oklahoma, participated in May 11 commencement ceremonies at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga.
She received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at the university.
Ensminger
Kevin Michael Ensminger of Concord was named to the dean's honor roll for academic achievement during the 2009 spring semester at Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.
To be eligible for the dean's honor roll, full-time students must earn a 3.5 grade point average or better on a 4.0 scale during the semester.
