ALEXANDRA KOVALICK and Jordan Sabella were recently named Antioch High School athletes of the year at the Antioch High School Spring Sports Awards Ceremony. Sabella, earning a 3.91 GPA, was a three- sport starter his senior year. He was captain of the Panther tennis team, No. 1 on the team ladder and undefeated in league his senior year. He played all four years on the varsity tennis team, and this year was named to the All-league First Team. Sabella made it to the finals in the BVAL tournament and led his team to the NCS playoffs. He also played two years of varsity soccer and was a kicker on the football team his senior year. Kovalick, earning a 3.70 GPA, ran four years track, qualifying for NCS in 2007, 2008 and 2009 in the 4x400-meter relay, and in 2008, the 110-meter hurdles. As a wrestler, she was captain of the girls squad, fifth in Northern CIF Regional and placed second at NCS.
