Maple named No. 2 in highway patrol
Topeka Capital-Journal, The, Mar 28, 1999
Capt. Terry Maple has been named the second in command of the Kansas Highway Patrol under the superintendent, Col. Don Brownlee.
Brownlee announced on Friday the appointment of Maple, who now commands Troop G, which patrols the Kansas Turnpike. Maple, who joined the patrol in 1979, formerly headed the Capitol Security Patrol in Topeka.
Maple begins his new duties April 4 with the rank of lieutenant colonel. He fills the vacancy created when Brownlee was named recently by Gov. Bill Graves to replace Lonnie McCollum, who retired March 19. Brownlee awaits Senate confirmation of his appointment, but Senate leaders say that will be a formality. Maple's appointment doesn't require confirmation.
