Marion Ginkens

NORTONVILLE -- Marion Walter Ginkens, 85, Nortonville, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.

Mr. Ginkens owned and operated Times Photo Shop at Anamosa, Iowa, and the Midway Horse arena in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for many years. He and his wife also owned and operated the Brown Hotel in Anamosa, Iowa, for several years.

He was born Feb. 14, 1914, at Brighton, Iowa, the son of Fred and Bessie Ginkens. He graduated from Brighton, Iowa, High School in 1932. He moved to Jefferson County from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1992.

He married Lela L. Reid on Dec. 24, 1947, at Anamosa, Iowa. She died March 6, 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Luciann Bean, Onslow, Iowa; a son, Bill Ginkens, New Century; two sisters, Helen Kost, Rose Meade, Calif., and Esther Dorrance, Davenport, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned. Inurnment at Wilcox Cemetery in Viola, Iowa, will be private.

Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa is in charge of arrangements.
