Jack Johnson
JUNCTION CITY --- Jack Johnson, 88, Junction City, died Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999.
Mr. Johnson was a mechanic with the Motor Vehicle Pool with civil service at Fort Riley for 35 years. He retired in 1980. He also was a veteran of World War II.
He was born July 1, 1911, in Wabbaseka, Ark., the son of Eddy and Rosie Parker Johnson. He attended school in Wabbaseka, Ark.
He married Leola Williams in 1942 at Fort Riley. She preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Jackie Lee Johnson, Junction City; three daughters, Marion Y. Johnson and Carolyn Ann Johnson, both of Topeka, and Shirley Lee, Leavenworth; eight grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Second Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5375 S.W. 7th, Topeka, 66606.
W. Harold Jones
HERINGTON --- W. Harold Jones, 94, Herington, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Woodbine.
Mr. Jones was a retired farmer.
He was born Sept. 2, 1905, in Missouri, the son of William E. Jones and Maude Patton. He moved with his family to Kansas in 1908.
Mr. Jones was a member of First Christian Church in Herington and the Dickinson County Farm Bureau.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred Jones, Oct. 30, 1961. He married Phoebe Mead on Aug. 26, 1966, in Junction City. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Gail Jones, Woodbine; a stepdaughter, Gladys Johnson, St. Roberts, Mo.; two sisters, Nellie Paige, White City, and Mary Funk, Wymore, Neb.; and several grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the First Christian Church in Herington. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mr. Jones will lie in state from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Brockmeier Funeral Chapel in Herington, and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church in Herington and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
J. Milton Lieneman
ROBINSON --- J. Milton Lieneman, 82, Robinson, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at a Hiawatha hospital.
Services will be announced by Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
Velma Lierz
FRANKFORT --- Velma M. Lierz, 81, Frankfort, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mrs. Lierz will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A wake service will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at the church.
Rosa Overstreet
LYNDON --- Rosa B. Overstreet, 69, Lyndon, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born March 14, 1930, in Hoyt, the daughter of Ress Thorton and Nettie Bea Michael Flowers. She moved to Lyndon from Berryton 23 years ago.
She married Gene Thomas Overstreet on Aug. 26, 1947, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Edward W. Overstreet, Lyndon, and Michael A. Overstreet, Gladstone, Mo.; a daughter, Pamela J. Lake, Carbondale; four brothers, Gearold Flowers and Charley Flowers, both of Wichita, and William Flowers and Donald Flowers, both of Topeka; a sister, Velda Lake, Topeka; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
