Edward Larson

HIAWATHA --- Edward Allen Larson, 71, formerly of Effingham, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at a Hiawatha nursing home.

Mr. Larson farmed with his parents near Effingham until 1972.

He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Horton, the son of Ludwig and Selma Knudson Larson. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1947. He moved to Lawrence from the farm in 1974.

Mr. Larson was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Everest, and he had served on the Horton unit of the Kansas National Guard in the 1950s.

Survivors include a sister, LaVerne Sternsdorff, Effingham; and three brothers, Dr. Delbert Larson, Hiawatha, Stanley Larson, Lawrence, and Dr. Larry Larson, Lincoln, Neb.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Everest. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Mr. Larson will lie in state at Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton until service time.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church and sent in care of the mortuary.

Calvin Lovelady

HIAWATHA --- Calvin E. Lovelady, 74, Hiawatha, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at a Hiawatha nursing home.

Services will be announced by Highland Mortuary.

Doris Ray

MANHATTAN --- Doris M. Ray, 80, Manhattan, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at a Manhattan nursing home.

She was born Nov. 15, 1919, in Ogden, the daughter of John H. and Lelia Cummings Gieber.

She married William Ray on Aug. 14, 1937, in Ogden. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Staatz, Hot Springs Village, Ark.; a son, Douglas Ray, Manhattan; three sisters, LaVerta Christopherson, Manhattan, Pauline Hanna, McCook, Neb., and Wanda Stehr, Ogden; three brothers, LeRoy Gieber, Emporia, Jake Gieber, Topeka, and John H. Gieber Jr., Ogden; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Ogden. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and sent in care of the funeral home.

David RedWolf

LAWRENCE --- David RedWolf, 18, Lawrence, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 22, 1982, in Missoula, Mont., the son of David RedWolf Sr. and Cathryn Ladoux. He was from the Micmac, Cherokee and Pueblo Indian tribes. He was a student at the Lawrence Alternative High School. He worked for the Natural History Museum at The University of Kansas, and he did computer work for Operation Wildlife.

Mr. RedWolf created Web sites, did photography and enjoyed creative writing. He had won first prize five different years at the Kansas Science Fair, as well as first prize in an Arlington, Texas, photography contest.

Survivors include his mother, Cathryn Ladoux, Lawrence; grandparents, Dorothy Bertrand, Arkansas City, and Dewey Beck Jr., Ponca City, Okla.; and his siblings, Isaac, Cody, Grizzly, Luther, Luellen and Raven.
