Calvin Lovelady HIAWATHA --- Calvin E. Lovelady, 74, Hiawatha, died

Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Minoka Hall at Haskell Indian Nations University.

Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Wildlife or to the Lawrence Alternative High School and sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

William Remlinger

William Frederick "Bill" Remlinger, 69, Lawrence, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at a Lawrence nursing home.

Mr. Remlinger was a social worker for the state of Kansas until he retired in 1995 due to illness. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was born June 11, 1930, in Lynn, Mass., the son of Frederick William and Marjorie Catherine Lewis Remlinger. He moved to Lawrence from Lynn in 1948. Mr. Remlinger earned a bachelor's degree from Washburn University in 1958.

Mr. Remlinger was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints.

He married Eleanor Maxine Bell on June 27, 1949, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Stephen Remlinger, Lawrence, and Frederick Remlinger, Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Laura Hugunin, Overland Park, and Penny Kelly, Prairie Village; two sisters, Janet McKinney, Pensacola, Fla., and Margie Anderson, in Florida; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lawrence. Burial will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery. Mr. Remlinger will lie in state from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Douglas County and sent in care of the funeral home.

Alva Runyan

OSAGE CITY --- Alva H. "Jim" Runyan, 98, Osage City, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

Services will be announced by Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery.

Matilda Steiner

SABETHA --- Matilda Leah Steiner, 94, Sabetha, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at a Sabetha nursing home.

Miss Steiner was a resident housekeeper for 18 years for Dr. and Mrs. Clemens Rucker in Sabetha. She later worked for the Elgin Watch Factory in Elgin, Ill., from 1947 until it closed. She retired from the Rinn Corp., a dental X-ray manufacturing company.

She was born Oct. 5, 1905, in Bern, the daughter of Menno J. and Sophia Strahm Steiner. She attended school in Sabetha. She moved to the Sabetha and Morrill area from Elgin, Ill., in 1969.

Survivors include two sisters, Martha Bitner, Peoria, Ill., and Priscilla Anliker, Francesville, Ind.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Apostolic Christian Church in Sabetha. Burial will be in Sabetha Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home or to Sabetha Community Hospital and sent in care of the funeral home.

Corene Stromgren

OSAGE CITY --- Corene M. Stromgren, 87, Osage City, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at an Osage City nursing home.

Mrs. Stromgren had taught school in rural Osage County, Michigan Valley and Osage City before she retired.
