- Topeka Powersports expands --- Topeka Powersports, 2319 S.W. Topeka, recently expanded to include more accessories and motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles and watercraft.
The store is managed by Randy Chenoweth, who was general manager of Topeka Tour and Trail for 15 years. The store sells and performs service on new and used motorcycles, ATVs and watercraft. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sundays and Mondays. The phone number is 862-9000.
- Eichkorn, Bruce promoted with KHP --- John A. Eichkorn and Mark A. Bruce have been promoted to second lieutenants by the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Eichkorn has assumed command of the patrol's public information section in the general headquarters in Topeka.
He joined the patrol in 1988 as a field trooper in Osage County. He transferred to the support services section of general headquarters in August 1995. He has handled public relations for the patrol and served as state public information officer. He has also served in the KHP's legislative security detail.
Eichkorn is a graduate of Washburn University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Bruce has assumed command of the support services section in the general headquarters in Topeka.
He joined the patrol in 1989 as a field trooper in Riley County. He was promoted to sergeant in 1998 and assigned to the support services section.
Bruce received an associate degree in criminal justice from Barton County Community College. He also has a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Kansas and a master's degree in criminal justice administration from Washburn University. He served in the Kansas Air National Guard from 1985 to 1994 and attained the rank of technical sergeant.
- Parks hired at Stormont-Vail Foundation --- Ann Mills Parks has joined the Stormont-Vail Foundation as development manager.
Parks will be responsible for fund raising and program activities of the foundation. Before joining the foundation, Parks worked for the Corporation for National Service as director of the AmeriCorps program in Salt Lake City. She directed and coordinated AmeriCorps projects in 13 low-cost medical facilities throughout Utah. She is a 1990 graduate of The University of Kansas and is originally from Newton.
- Firstar appoints Heim --- Patricia J. Heim was appointed senior vice president of commercial lending at Firstar Bank in Topeka.
Heim comes to Firstar with more than 16 years of commercial lending experience in Topeka. She was formerly an assistant national bank examiner with the comptroller of the currency. She is a graduate of Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She serves on the board of the United Way of Greater Topeka and is president of the board of Top of the Tower.
- Fantastic Sam's hires Morstorf --- Carman Morstorf has been hired as a hairstylist at Fantastic Sam's, 226 N.W. Independence.
Morstorf comes to Fantastic Sam's from Hairport Hair Salon, where she was a stylist. Morstorf graduated from Capital City Barber College in June 1976 and was trained to do razor cuts by Roffler in 1980.
- Changes at Topeka USPS --- Cheryl V. McKinnon, Kris Fox and Pat Pierce have been named managers of customer service by the U.S. Postal Service.
McKinnon oversees 39 routes that service five ZIP Code areas from the Main Post Office Station, 424 S. Kansas. She is also responsible for about 85 employees. She joined the Postal Service in 1983 as a rural carrier in Topeka. She has worked in many positions, including delivery supervisor, retail manager and manager of customer services.
She and her husband, Mike, have five sons.
Fox oversees 34 routes that service four ZIP Code areas from the Hicrest Post Office Station, 2921 S.E. Adams. She oversees about 60 employees. She joined the USPS in 1984 as a city carrier in Shawnee Mission. She and her husband, Ron, have two children.
Pierce oversees 21 routes that service three ZIP Code areas from the North Topeka Postal Store & Station, 220 N.W. Lynn Road. He is responsible for about 45 employees. He joined the USPS in 1976 as a city carrier in Topeka. He and his wife, Tammi, and their daughter, Katie, live in Topeka.
- Dillons promotes Snyder --- Dillon Stores Division has promoted Richard Snyder to produce manager at the Dillons at S.W. Huntoon and Lane.
Snyder started with the company in 1986 as a produce clerk at the S.E. 29th and California store. He was most recently a produce clerk at the S.W. 29th and Randolph location.
- Changes at Commerce --- Commerce Bank and Trust in Topeka recently announced several staff changes.
Carroll E. Mock was hired as manager of insurance sales. Mock has more than 38 years in the industry and has a bachelor's degree in economics from The University of Kansas. Mock will develop and manage the insurance division at Commerce. Mock is a member of Rotary International, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and is a board member of Forest Park Retreat & Conference Center.
