Ernestine Allison

GRANTVILLE --- Ernestine "June" Allison, 66, Grantville, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

Mrs. Allison worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1952 to 1958. She contributed more than 4,200 hours of service to Stormont- Vail Regional Health Center the past eight years, and she was honored with numerous awards for service to the hospital.

She was born Aug. 16, 1934, in Elmont, the daughter of Ernest William and Iva E. "Cook" Dauber. She was raised in Meriden and graduated from Meriden High School in 1952. She was a lifelong resident of the Grantville and Meriden areas.

Mrs. Allison attended Eastside Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church in Meriden, where she served as the pianist.

She more recently attended Country Acres Harvest Church north of Topeka. She had been a volunteer at the former Memorial Hospital in the 1970s.

She married George M. Allison on July 12, 1958, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Ernest R. Allison, Meriden; two daughters, Linda K. Allison, Grantville, and Denise J. Allison, Topeka; two sisters, LaVerta Klemmer, Kansas City, Kan., and Wanda Atwood, Frankfort; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Burial will be in Grantville Cemetery. Mrs. Allison will lie in state after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stormont-Vail Care Line through the Stormont-Vail Foundation and sent in care of the funeral home.

Johnnie Brown

OSAGE CITY --- Johnnie Stephen Brown, 56, Osage City, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, in Overbrook. He had cancer.

Mr. Brown worked 30 years in food service management for Service America and Volume Service. He had been the general manager for many civic centers and opened the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka for Volume Service.

He also had served at Soldiers Field and Grant Park in Chicago, the Seattle Civic Center in Seattle, the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston and the Rockford Metro-Center in Rockford, Ill.

He was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Tennessee, the son of Lyle Brown and Dorothy Louise Lucas.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Mason Brown, Osage City; a daughter, Stephanie Brown, St. Louis; a son, Steven Brown, Kansas City, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Dawn Henderson, Osage City; three stepsons, Dean Valentine, Denver, and Shawn Valentine and Shane Valentine, both of Osage City; his father, Lyle Brown, Lee's Summit, Mo.; three brothers, Gary Brown, Blue Springs, Mo., David Brown, in Texas, and Philip Brown, Columbia, Mo.; two sisters, Lisa Pierce, Lee's Summit, Mo., and Gina Brown, in Florida; and 11 grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 17 at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Burial was in the Albany Cemetery north of Sabetha.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics, a cause championed by Mr. Brown during his career, and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Raymond Doran III

JUNCTION CITY --- Raymond J. Doran III, 57, Junction City, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at a Junction City hospital.

Mr. Doran served more than 20 years in the Army before he retired in 1984. He later worked in maintenance for the Jayhawk Motel.

He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (sixth award), Army Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon "3," Overseas Service Ribbon "3," U.S. Army Recruiter Badge and Expert (M-16 Rifle).

He was born May 23, 1943, in Philadelphia, the son of Raymond J. and Elva Dulroney Duran II. He graduated from high school in Philadelphia.

Mr. Doran was a member of St. Xavier Church and Post No. 1594 of the American Legion.

He married Victoria C. Sears on Feb. 23, 1984. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Raymond J. Doran V, Centralia, Wash.; two stepsons, David A. Roberts, Huffman, Texas, and Kalop Roberts, in Philadelphia; a stepdaughter, Georgia Ann Roberts, Escondido, Calif.; two brothers, Rick Doran, Philadelphia, and Robert W. Doran, Collegeville, Pa.; a sister, Pat Wilbiakaitis, Westville, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Doran was preceded in death by a son, Raymond J. Doran IV.

Graveside services with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. today at the Fort Riley Cemetery. Relatives and friends will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. today at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City.

Donna Haling

MCLOUTH ---Donna Sue Haling, 41, McLouth, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at a Kansas City, Kan., hospital. Cause of death hasn't been determined.

Mrs. Haling was a floral designer for Courtyard Floral from October 1998 until her death. She had been a bus driver for special education classes in the McLouth Unified School District from August 1989 to May 1998.

She was born Oct. 11, 1958, in Winchester, the daughter of Roscoe Warren and Leota Mae Winfrey Daniels. She graduated from McLouth High School in 1976, and was a lifelong resident of the McLouth area.
