Lois Brown

Lois Irene Brown, 73, Topeka, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Mayetta, the daughter of Howard E. and Lillie Marie Reynolds Ray. She lived her life in the Topeka and Mayetta areas.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Central Avenue Christian Church in Topeka.

She married Clarence O. Brown on June 7, 1945, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Jean Norman, Topeka; two sons, Clarence H. Brown and Lewis O. Brown, both of Topeka; three sisters, Thelma Hagen, Miami, Fla., Lillie Beth Baxter, Mayetta, and Alma Fitzgerald, Topeka; a brother, Eldon Ray, Mayetta; three grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mayetta Cemetery. Mrs. Brown will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association sent in care of the funeral home.

Tellis Dorsey

Tellis Dorsey, 87, Topeka, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at her home.

Mr. Dorsey was a shoe repair service operator for New Way Shoe Service until he retired in April 2000. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was born Sept. 26, 1913, in Foreman, Ark., the son of the Rev. Charlie Dorsey and Betty Harrison. He had lived in Topeka for more than 60 years.

Mr. Dorsey was a member of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce and Euclid Lodge No. 2 F&AM, and he was a member and former trustee at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

He married Lydia Hollan-Murphy on May 11, 1987, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Tellis James "T.J." Dorsey and Michael H. Davis, both of Topeka, and Alexander Corey Davis, Philadelphia; a daughter, Annamarie Wilkins, Topeka; two stepdaughters, Willa Lou Gatewood, Topeka, and Willene Sue Maples, Oklahoma City; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Dorsey will lie in state after 4 p.m. Friday at Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel where visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Carol Large

Carol Kay Large, 57, Topeka, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at her home.

Mrs. Large had been a social worker/case worker for the Breakthrough Living Program from 1994 to 1999.

She was born Dec. 18, 1942, in Topeka, the daughter of William and Audrea May Kidwell Haller. She was raised in Oregon and moved back to Topeka in 1959. She earned a degree in social work from Washburn University in 1993.

Mrs. Large was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints at 3611 S.W. Jewell.

She married Kenneth Eugene Large on Aug. 14, 1960, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Paula E. Workman, University City, Mo.; three sons, Tracy A. Large and Michael A. Large, both of Topeka, and Jeffrey D. Large, Olathe; three sisters, Lois A. Ridgeway, McCalla, Ala., W. Jean Hale, Aiken, S.C., and Ellen R. Loomis, Sheridan, Calif.; three brothers, Albert W. Haller, Pulaski, Wis., William H. Haller, Reno, Nev., and Harry D. Haller, Johnson City, Ore.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funereal Home. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery. Mrs. Large will lie in state from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Breakthrough Living Program or Breakthrough House Inc. and sent in care of the funeral home.

John Ogle

John W. Ogle, 44, Topeka, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Ogle worked in the maintenance division for Frito Lay. He also served for two years in Marine Corps.

He was born Jan. 21, 1956, in Topeka, the son of Paul W. and Audrey G. Warren Ogle. He had been a volunteer at Let's Help Inc. and a member of Community Church.

Survivors include a son, Aaron W. Ogle, Topeka; a daughter, Emilie K. Ogle, Topeka; his father, Paul W. Ogle, Topeka; two sisters, Mary Shaw, Topeka, and Anne Puckett, Colby; and two brothers, Edward Ogle, Scranton, and Terry Ogle, Topeka.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Church, S.W. 21st and Jewell. Burial with military graveside services conducted by Philip Billard Post No. 1650 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Mr. Ogle will lie in state after 2 p.m. Friday at Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Aaron and Emilie Ogle Educational Fund and sent in care of Capitol City Bank, P.O. Box 4128, Topeka, 66604.

Edna Ransom

Edna Ransom, 94, Topeka, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at a Topeka hospital.

Services will be announced by Bowser-Johnson Funeral Chapel.

Marjory Rodgers

Marjory H. Rodgers, 89, Topeka, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at a Topeka retirement community.

Mrs. Rodgers taught first- and second-grade classes at Avondale East Elementary School for 18 years before she retired in 1972.
