Burlingame
Boys basketball --- Burlingame's season came to an end Tuesday with a 81-55 loss to Waverly. The Bearcats finished with a 5-14 mark.
Girls basketball --- The Bearcats wound up with a 1-18 record, ending its season with a 68-23 loss to Olpe in Monday's 1A regional.
Wrestling --- Tyler Parsons improved to 22-5 by winning the 145- pound crown at Saturday's Class 3-2-1A regional at Silver Lake. Parsons beat Rossville's Travis VanVleck 5-3 in the title match, scoring a late takedown for the win. Tim Cambron (152) was the only other Bearcat to win a match at the regional.
Holton
Boys basketball --- Holton sandwiched a win over Maur Hill Prep with losses to Nemaha Valley and Royal Valley. Matt Schirmer scored 21 in the 58-51 loss to Royal Valley. Holton opens 4A sub-state play Monday at Hiawatha.
Girls basketball --- The Wildcats pushed Class 3A No. 4 Nemaha Valley in a 56-51 overtime loss last Friday and then came back with wins over Mt. St. Scholastica and Royal Valley this week. Erin Morris scored 26 in the 61-46 win over Royal Valley. The Wildcats are the third seed at the Clay Center 4A sub-state and host Wamego on Tuesday.
Wrestling --- Holton picked up two state-qualifiers at the Class 4A regional in Holton --- 145-pounder Ryan Phillips and 189-pounder Ed Dunn. Phillips pinned all four of his regional foes, pushing his season total to 34 in a 35-0 campaign and tying Blue Valley Northwest's Zach Roberson for most pins in one season. Dunn wound up third and is 18-16 this season.
Jackson Heights
Boys basketball --- Heights hopes for a share of the Delaware Valley League crown ended with a 56-53 loss to Valley Falls on Tuesday. Brad Alley scored 17 for the Cobras (10-8), who play host to Wathena in a Monday 2A sub-state game.
Girls basketball --- The Cobras managed just 18 points in a 24-18 loss to Valley Falls on Tuesday. Heights (3-15) opens 2A sub-state play at Wathena on Tuesday.
Jefferson West
Boys basketball --- Jefferson West was hot from 3-point range, but couldn't pull a win out of it in a 61-55 loss to Maur Hill Prep on Tuesday. The Tigers made 12 3-pointers and 10 different players scored. Jefferson West (6-13) meets Eudora on Monday in the first round of 4A sub-state play.
Girls basketball --- The Tigers are the top seed at the Hayden 4A sub-state and have a first-round bye. They'll play the winner of the Perry-Lecompton and Tonganoxie game.
Lyndon
Boys basketball --- Lyndon finished its regular season with a 55- 40 loss to Osage City on Tuesday, getting 15 points from Tim Cox and 10 from Aaron Bilyeu. The Tigers are the top seed at the Yates Center 3A sub-state and play at home Monday against Eureka.
Girls basketball --- Lyndon fell to Osage City 56-41 in the season finale despite 20 points from freshman Jamie Schmitz. The Tigers are the No. 5 seed at the Yates Center 3A sub-state and will play host to Eureka on Monday.
Marais des Cygnes Valley
Boys basketball --- Marais des Cygnes Valley closed out the regular season with a 76-56 win over Gridley and will play Lebo in the semifinals of the Class 1A regional at Lebo.
Girls basketball --- The Trojans moved to the semifinals of the Class 1A regional at Lebo with a 55-28 win over Williamsburg. MdCV will take on rival Olpe with a berth in next week's sub-state on the line.
Mission Valley
Boys basketball --- The Vikings got 16 points from Josh Converse and 12 from Jeff Finlay, but fell to Wabaunsee 76-58 last Friday. They'll finish the regular season Friday against St. Marys and open 3A sub-state play against defending champion Osage City on Tuesday.
Girls basketball --- The Vikings finish the season Friday against St. Marys and then open 3A sub-state play at Northern Heights on Monday.
Wrestling --- Ryan Suttles won two matches at 130 pounds at the Class 3-2-1A regional at Silver Lake, but fell two wins short of qualifying for state. Kayne Kraus was the only other Viking to win a match at regionals.
Osage City
Boys basketball --- The Indians improved to 18-1 with a 55-40 win over Lyndon on Tuesday and close the regular season Friday against Rock Creek. Osage City is the top seed at the Royal Valley 3A sub- state and will host Mission Valley on Tuesday.
Girls basketball --- The Indians beat Lyndon 56-41 with Amie Haskins scoring 17. Osage City is the fourth-seed at the Royal Valley 3A sub-state and plays host to Rossville on Monday.
Rossville
Boys basketball --- Rossville dropped a 47-40 decision to Rock Creek on Tuesday, with Derek Dick scoring 20 in the loss. The Bulldogs are the third seed at the Royal Valley 3A sub-state and host Northern Heights on Tuesday.
Girls basketball --- Rossville picked up its biggest win of the season last Friday, upsetting Riley County 36-31 behind 13 points from Jamie Gall. The Bulldogs followed Tuesday with a 54-51 win over Rock Creek with Lena Cooper scoring 16 and host Northern Heights in the finale and then open sub-state play at Osage City on Monday.
