Allice Tieck Critchlow of Topeka will celebrate her 101st birthday on Wednesday with a card shower.
She was born Aug. 8, 1900, in Sioux City, Iowa.
Mrs. Critchlow retired from Peacock Laundry in 1968. She was a supervisor in the linen supply section.
She and Perle Critchlow were married Oct. 11, 1940. Her husband died Nov. 23, 1948.
She remains active, cooking, helping with laundry, and sewing. She resides with her two sons, Walt and Bill.

Ruth Tucker of Topeka will celebrate her 90th birthday as guest of honor at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at Rolling Hills Health Center, 2400 S.W. Urish Road.
Hosts will be her children, Mary Ann and Denny Steward and Julia Marsh, all of Topeka, and Ray and Susan Tucker, Salina. She has eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tucker was born Aug. 17, 1911, in Parkdale, Ark. She has lived in Topeka since 1945.
She married Raymond Tucker in 1944. He died in 1975.
She was employed by the Topeka Police Department as a school crossing guard at Quinton Heights School for six years in the 1950s and '60s, and later worked for Peacock Laundry in Holliday Square for 12 years.
Mrs. Tucker requests no gifts, but would treasure cards and visits by friends and relatives.
Twins Adelee Baars and Adelaide McWhirt, both of Topeka, will celebrate their 75th birthdays as guests of honor at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 12 at Mission Towers, 2929 S.E. Minnesota.
Hosts will be their children and their families.
The twins were born Aug. 10, 1926, to Pete and Bettie McCaslen in Hoyt, where they lived until 1944. Adelee and her husband, Chuck Baars, owned and operated Shady Lane Mobile Home Park at S.W. 57th and US-75 highway for many years. They later lived north of Lawrence before returning to Topeka in March 2000.
Adelaide and her husband, Jim McWhirt, lived and worked in Topeka throughout most of their marriage.
Their husbands are deceased.
Mrs. Baars' children are Charles Baars, Lawrence; Debbie Littlefield, Mayetta; Judy Baars, Centerton, Ark.; and Sandy Baars, Pea Ridge, Ark.
Mrs. McWhirt's children are Robert McWhirt, Basehor; Larry McWhirt, Gas City, Ind.; Ruth Beltron, Topeka; and Karin Juarez, Topeka;
Parking is available in the church parking lot west of Mission Towers.
Irene Baxter of Auburn will celebrate her 90th birthday with an open house from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Community Center at 840 Milton in Auburn and with a card shower.
Hosts will be her children, Darrel and Dot Baxter, Chandler, Ariz., and Alberta and Kenny Flohrschutz, Berryton. She has eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Baxter was born Aug. 14, 1911.

Ellen Tucker of Topeka will celebrate her 85th birthday today with a card shower.
She was born and raised in Wakarusa. She married Merle Tucker in 1946, and they had a fruit and vegetable farm west of Grantville for many years. He died in 1984.
Her children and their spouses are Tony and Mary Tucker, Dennison; Nan and Nick Hipsher, Topeka; and Janice and Gary Johnson, Hutchinson. She has four grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.

Paul Holenbeck, Frankfort, will be celebrating his 70th birthday on Aug. 13.
He married Joyce Haley on Sept. 4, 1955. Together they owned and operated the Standard/Amoco gas station in Frankfort for 35 years. For the past 10 years, they have owned and still operate Paul's Service Center in Frankfort.
