Mr. Carter was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder, deacon and trustee. He also was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Kiwanis Club of Topeka. And he was a world-wide traveler.

He married Geneva McCoid on June 23, 1931, in Duncan Falls, Ohio. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, William B. Carter, Wilmington, Del.; two daughters, Mary Jungmann, Philpot, Ky., and Nancy Rion, West Hartford, Conn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. Graveside services and burial will be private. Mr. Carter will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Mid- Town Chapel, where visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 817 S.E. Harrison, Topeka, Kan., 66612; or to the Alzheimers Association, Topeka Chapter, P.O. Box 1427, Topeka, Kan., 66601; or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Roy Holstrom

Roy Arthur Eugene Holstrom, 92, Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, at a Topeka nursing home.

Mr. Holstrom had been employed with Cudahy Packing Co. as a stock clerk, cashier and office manager in Topeka, Minneapolis, Minn., and Little Rock, Ark., for 13 years. He served in the Naval Air Service during World War II in Maui, Hawaii, as a petty officer second class in the supply depot. He later worked in the sheet metal industry for 25 years before he retired in 1972.

He was born Nov. 21, 1909, in Topeka, the son of Arthur H. Holstrom and Emma Larson Holstrom. He attended Topeka Public School, Washburn High School and Stricklers Business College.

Mr. Holstrom was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local No. 77 and he attended Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

He married Naomi Fern Spencer on July 13, 1932, in Topeka. She died in October 1977. Mr. Holstrom also was preceded in death by a stillborn son.

Survivors include two brothers, Norris Holstrom, Richardson, Texas, and Dana Holstrom, Topeka.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Mount Hope Abbey Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Holstrom will lie in state at the Abbey Chapel from 9:30 a.m. to service time.

Ruth Skinner

Ruth Lorena Skinner, 93, Topeka, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at a Topeka nursing home.

She was born Aug. 1, 1908, in Topeka, the daughter of George Chester and Anna May Reams Ridlon. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1925 and attended Washburn University. She lived in Mesa, Ariz., from 1978 until she moved back to Topeka in 1999.

She married Lloyd M. Skinner on Sept. 1, 1930, in Topeka. He survives.

Other survivors include a son, Jerald P. Skinner, Topeka; a daughter, Joyce D. Large, Webster, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled. Inurnment at Mount Hope Cemetery will be private.
