Sharon Godfrey

TYRONE, Okla. --- Sharon Kay Godfrey, 58, Tyrone, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at her home.

Mrs. Godfrey was a dietary director for several nursing homes before she retired.

She was born Oct. 24, 1943, in Frankfort, Kan., the daughter of James V. and Bessie I. Hidy Welch. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1961 and later from Stewarts Beauty Academy in Topeka.

She married Leonard Ellis on Dec. 15, 1962. They were divorced. She married Lloyd Godfrey on Dec. 1, 1966. He survives.

Other survivors include her mother, Bessie Welch, Blue Rapids; a son, Danny Ellis, Florence, Kan.; two daughters, Brenda Corbin, Augusta, Kan., and Cindy Ellis, Austin, Texas; a stepson, Robert Godfrey, Hooker, Okla.; three stepdaughters, Peggy Williams, Hinckley, Minn., Stacey Higgins, Rawlins, Wyo., and Becky Eure, Tyrone, Okla.; two sisters, Lova Feldhausen, Manhattan, Kan., and Roberta Osborne, Blue Rapids, Kan.; and stepgrandchildren.

Services were Monday at the Church of Christ in Hooker, Okla. Burial was in Tyrone Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Association.

Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker was in charge of arrangements.

Steven Jones

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Steven J. Jones, 51, Kansas City, Mo., died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at home.

Mr. Jones worked for the Department of Agriculture. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was born Oct. 19, 1950, in Springfield, Mo., the son of Jesse A. Jones Jr. and Violet R. Jones.

Mr. Jones was a member of St. John's Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Jones; a son, Erik S. Jones, Overland Park; a daughter, Natalie K. Jones, Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Violet R. Jones, Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Charles R. Jones, Easton, Kan., Bruce A. Jones, Riverside, Mo., and Danny L. Jones, Hartville, Mo.; and a sister, Lisa M. Haworth, Hartville, Mo.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Meyers Family Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be at 2 p.m. at Melvern Cemetery in Melvern. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Support Center, 7808 Foster, Overland Park, Kan., 66204; or Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter No. 317, 3027 Walnut, Kansas City, Mo., 64128.

Gail Long

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Colorado Springs for Gail Whitney Long, 86, Colorado Springs. He died Tuesday, April 9, 2002, at a Colorado Springs hospice.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Mount Hope Chapel at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association for Research, 2930 Austin Bluffs Parkway, Suite 101, Colorado Springs, Colo., 80918.

Mountain View Mortuary in Colorado Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Emile Tremblay

HAYS --- Emile M. Tremblay, 96, Hays, died Wednesday, April 10, 2002, at a Hays nursing home.

Mr. Tremblay farmed near Damar and worked for the Experiment Station from 1928 to 1930.

He was born Aug. 1, 1905, in Damar, the son of John and Felie Charbonneau Tremblay.

Mr. Tremblay was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2365, both in Damar.

He married Evelyn Newell on June 4, 1929, in Damar. She died Oct. 28, 1997. Mr. Tremblay also was preceded in death by four grandchildren.

Survivors include four sons, Leo Tremblay, WaKeeney, Leodore Tremblay, Salina, Jerome Tremblay, Hermiston, Ore., and Douglas Tremblay, Edwards, Colo.; four daughters, Leola Kerr, Derby, Jane Rae Pfannenstiel and Dianna Leiker, both Hays, and Dorothy Barnett, Topeka; 37 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Damar. Burial will be at the church cemetery. Mr. Tremblay will lie in state at Hays Memorial Chapel in Hays from 3 to 8 p.m. today, where rosaries recited by the Perpetual Adorers at 4 p.m. and the Daughters of Isabella at 6:30 p.m. will be followed by a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. He also will lie in state after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church, where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's of Hays Nursing Home and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Mary Bowler

LAWRENCE --- Mary Jane Bowler, 87, formerly of Lawrence, died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at a Liberty, Mo., care center.

Ms. Bowler worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years before she retired.

She was born March 28, 1915, in Pleasant View, Mo., the daughter of Robert W. and Bertha Lee Grigsby Langley. She was raised in Pleasant View and had lived in Miami, Fla., and in Lawrence from 1945 to 1982, and then in DeSoto before she moved to Liberty, Mo.

Graveside services were Wednesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence was in charge of arrangements.
