Lance Workman

MERIDEN --- Lance Keith Workman, 48, Meriden, was found dead at his home Tuesday, June 11, 2002. The cause of death stemmed from an injury he suffered in a mowing accident.

Mr. Workman was a pipefitter and had worked out of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local No. 165 since 1979.

He was born Sept. 19, 1953, in Topeka, the son of Leland C. and LaVonne Bocock Workman. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1971 and attended Kansas State University.

Mr. Workman was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local No. 165, Turning Wheels Studebaker Club and the Topeka Corvette Club. He also had been active in Boy Scouts and earned the Eagle Scout Award as a youth.

Survivors include his parents, Leland and LaVonne Workman, Topeka; and a sister, LaNae Workman, Topeka.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Highland Chapel. Graveside services will be at noon Friday in Matfield Green Cemetery in Matfield Green.

Mr. Workman will lie in state after 1 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where visitation will be from 7 to 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
