Shawnee Fair set for July 25-28

The Shawnee County Fair will take place at the Kansas Expocentre on July 25-28, with a 4-H horse show July 20-21.
The fair includes opportunities for many people besides 4-Hers. On July 25 at 7 p.m., the Fairlawn Road Swing Band is featured, the 4-H king and queen are announced, a bake sale and auction takes place and sidewalk chalk art by Big Brothers/Big Sisters will be done.
The quilt show will take place July 26 and there are more than 50 quilts entered. Karaoke will be featured during the evenings of July 25, 26 and 27. Car Cruise nights are featured during the evenings of July 26 and 27.
On July 26, Judy Coder, an international yodeling champion, will entertain people, followed by the Santa Fe Band and a Brass Quintet.
July 27 features many events, including a community blood drive at 8:30 a.m.; entertainment in the morning by Top-Kan Twirlers Square Dancers; and entertainment at noon by the Wild Women of the Frontier. Then at 1 p.m., Drew Forster, a country singer, will entertain, followed by an Indian youth drum group. At 2 p.m., the celebrity swine show will take place. The Overcomers, Southern gospel singers, Loose Gravel, as well as a blue grass and country music group, will entertain, too. Also, Capital City Radio Controlled Club will give demonstrations with remote wireless airplanes and the Topeka Council of Garden Clubs will sponsor a flower show.
On July 28, there will be the antique and collectible show, sponsored by the Prairie Land Depression Era Glass Club. The O'Reilly Sprint Car and simulator is also a feature of the fair.
There also will be a carnival on the grounds all four days. There is a cost to attend the carnival; however, admission to the fair is free and parking is free.
