Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Scranton Township Cemetery in Scranton, Iowa, west of Ames. Relatives and friends will meet from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in Perry or to the American Diabetes Association.

Kenneth Sharp

CONCORDIA --- Kenneth Alvin Sharp, 82, Concordia, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at a Minneapolis, Kan., rest home.

He was born March 17, 1920, in Clay Center, to David and Blanche Mae Crawford Sharp. He was a self-employed truck driver.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Concordia.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Sharp Jr., Salina, Tom Sharp, Concordia, Charles Sharp, Spring, Texas, and Jimmie Sharp, Houston; two daughters, Frances Arnold, Salina, and Marsha Klima, Belleville; three brothers, Harry D. Sharp, Leawood, Donald Sharp, Edwards, Mo., and Larry Sharp, Lavonia, Ga.; two sisters, Maxine Brown, Stillwell, and Ilene Jun, Overland Park; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nutter Mortuary in Concordia. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. Mr. Sharp will lie in state from 1 to 8:30 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.

Dick Sweers

GARNETT --- Richard H. "Dick" Sweers, 80, Garnett, died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at a Kansas City, Mo., hospital.

He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., to Henry William and Nellie Pauline Goss Sweers, and graduated from Ward High School in Kansas City in 1939. He was active in Boy Scouts and had earned the Eagle Award. He moved to Garnett in 1953. He was a florist and owned and operated the Garnett Greenhouse for many years. He retired in 1987.

He was a veteran of World War II, having flown 29 missions as a navigator with the 483rd Bombardment Group. He was recalled to active service during the Korean War. He served in the Air Force Reserves until 1967 when he retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

He was a member and past president of the Garnett Chamber of Commerce and had served as president of the Kansas Florists Association. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion. He had served as Scoutmaster for Troop 126 in Garnett.

He married Iona Hodgman in 1949. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, R.H. "Hank" Sweers II, Overland Park, and Karl Sweers, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, George Sweers, Gulfport, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett. Burial will be in Garnett Cemetery. A wake service at 7 p.m. today at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Garnett will be followed by visitation.

Wayne Terrill

CLYDE --- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Christian Church in Clyde for Wayne Terrill, 57, Clyde, who died Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at a Clay Center hospital. He had been ill.

He was born Nov. 6, 1944, in Friend, Neb., to Robert G. and Bonnie M. Horne Terrill. He attended Smith Center High School in Smith Center and was a truck driver for Tamko Roofing Co. in Phillipsburg. He was a co-owner of Dinah's Noodle Factory in Clyde before he retired because of poor health.
