Mrs. Sample attended Oakland Church of the Nazarene. She was a member of the ladies auxiliary to Topeka North Post No. 400 of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge of Topeka.
She married Jack W. Sample on Oct. 5, 1957, in Topeka. He survives.
Other survivors include a son, Jack L. Sample, Robinson; a daughter, Shelley A. Koerperich, Topeka; a brother, William Fountain, Henderson, Nev.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Sample was preceded in death by two sons, James Sample, in 1963, and John Sample, in 1995.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
Ethel Turner
Ethel M. Turner, 82, Topeka, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at a Topeka nursing home.
Mrs. Turner farmed in the Oakley area many years ago. She was a legal secretary for First National Bank in Topeka for 10 years before she retired in 1985.
She was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Monument, the daughter of Joseph and Stella Poe Smith. She graduated from Monument High School in 1938 and had lived in Topeka for 30 years and in Holton for 10 years.
Mrs. Turner had been a church pianist for many years.
She married Earl E. Turner on Jan. 11, 1941, in WaKeeney. He died in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Eugene Turner, Thousand Oaks, Calif., Roger Lee Turner, Holton, and Myron Earl Turner, Lake Jackson, Texas.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Matthew Crelly
WAMEGO --- Matthew Joseph "Matt" Crelly, 43, Wamego, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at a Kansas City, Kan., hospital, where he had been a patient for about two weeks. He had a cerebral aneurysm and had undergone surgery.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at R.J. Evans Mortuary in Wamego. Burial will be in Wabaunsee Cemetery in Wabaunsee. Mr. Crelly will lie in state after 2 p.m. today at the mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Matt Crelly Children's Education Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
Dorathea Dietrich
JUNCTION CITY --- Dorathea J. "Dora" Dietrich, 98, Junction City, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at a Milford care home.
She was born March 6, 1904, in Junction City, the daughter of Fred and Mary Settgast Baresel.
Mrs. Dietrich was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
She married Hartwig Dietrich on Nov. 14, 1934, in Junction City. He died Sept. 14, 1995.
Survivors include a son, Merle Dietrich, Junction City; a daughter, Karen Dushane, Junction City; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Junction City. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery near Junction City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Mass-Hinitt Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
