Walter Anslinger

OSAGE CITY --- Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crable VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City for Walter S. Anslinger, 80, Topeka. He died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at a Topeka care home.

Burial will be in Osage City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Walter Anslinger Memorial Fund to be designated later and sent in care of the funeral chapel, 107 N. 6th, Osage City, 66523.

Hazel Broom

LYNDON --- Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lyndon Cemetery for Hazel Eileen Broom, 83, formerly of Lyndon. She died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at a Mobile, Ala., nursing home.

She was born Feb. 14, 1920, near Garnett, to Albert Olen and Winifred Christy Lloyd. She lived in Lyndon for several years before she moved to Mobile. She also lived in Oklahoma City for a time and then returned to Mobile 28 years ago.

Mrs. Broom was a member of First Baptist Church and the Tillman's Corner, and she taught children's Sunday school. She also was a member of a home demonstration unit, 4-H and a senior citizens group, all in Alabama.

She married Ralph Broom on May 20, 1940. He died in 1975.

Survivors include three daughters, Vera Reid, Laramie, Wyo., Carolyn Palmer, Pensacola, Fla., and Lynda McDonald, Mobile; a sister, Jeanette Turner, Berryton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great- grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or the Children's Advocacy Center and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, Box 160, Lyndon, 66451.

Serenity Funeral Home in Mobile was in charge of Alabama arrangements.

Rosella Burnett

ATCHISON --- Rosella Stevens Burnett, 93, Atchison, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at an Olathe nursing facility.

She was born Nov. 13, 1909, in Little Rock, Ark., the daughter of Louis Marion and Caroline Britt Stevens. She attended Sumner School in Kansas City, Kan., and lived in Kansas City, Kan., between the early 1970s and 1995.

Mrs. Burnett was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atchison.

She married J.W. Burnett in 1957 in Kansas City, Kan. He died in June 1981.

Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Boldridge and Carolyn Boldridge, both of Atchison, Sara Jane Bird, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Georgia Ann Buford, Knoxville, Iowa; and two sons, John Burnett, Emporia, and Terry Burnett, Monrovia, Calif.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atchison. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.

Hazel Dorrell

HIGHLAND --- Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Presbyterian Church in Highland for Hazel L. Dorrell, 94, Highland. She died Monday, March 31, 2003, at a Highland care center.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. An Order of the Eastern Star service conducted by the Huron Chapter at 7 p.m. today at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland will be followed by visitation until 8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or the Highland Ambulance Service and sent in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 33, 66035.

Edla Fager

OSAGE CITY --- Edla A. Fager, 95, Osage City, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at an Osage City nursing home.

Mrs. Fager was a registered nurse and served as head nurse at Armour Memorial Nursing Home in Kansas City. She later was employed at St. Mary's Hospital in Emporia and provided care for the terminally ill in the community. She and her husband also farmed west of Osage City until 1994.

She was born Oct. 29, 1907, in Vilas, to David G. and Josephine Gabrielson Anderson. She graduated from Vilas High School and Trinity Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Fager was a member of Stotler Evangelical Covenant Church and Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She had taught Sunday school and was active in the women's ministries, and was a member of the Birthday Club of Miller and Stotler communities.

She married Harry F. Fager on April 18, 1939. He died July 30, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Grace Steuri, Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Glenn Fager, Osage City; a brother, Paul Anderson, Chanute; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Osage City. Burial will be in Rapp Cemetery. Mrs. Fager will lie in state at Crable Funeral Chapel in Osage City after 3 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Stotler Covenant Church and sent in care of the funeral chapel.

Allan Hinton

HORTON --- Allan Boyd Hinton, 54, formerly of Horton, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at his home in Stillwater, Okla.

Mr. Hinton was youth coordinator for the Kickapoo Tribe. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Disabled American Veterans.

He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in St. Joseph, Mo., to Gilbert and Betty Goslin Hinton.
