Holton

Baseball

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: beat Atchison, 11-1; beat Royal Valley, 6-5 (8); lost to Hayden, 9-4.

Worth noting: Holton scored three times in the seventh to force extra innings with Royal Valley before winning in the eighth on Keenan VanZile's single. Holton finished runner-up at regionals for the fourth time in the last five years, ending with a 15-6 mark.

Golf

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: 3rd, 322.

Top performers: Ryan Bechard, 5th, 75; Kyle Sipe, 82; Tim Sipe, 82.

Worth noting: Holton missed qualifying for state by two strokes.

Softball

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: beat Perry-Lecompton, 3- 0.

Worth noting: The Wildcats blanked Perry to reach the semifinals of today's regional at Royal Valley. Holton faces two-time defending 4A champion Hayden at 4:30 p.m.

Jackson Heights

Last week's results: Delaware Valley League meet --- Boys, 3rd, 84 pts.; Girls, T5th, 38 pts.

Top performers: Boys --- Danny Schmitz: 110H, 1st, 15.7; 300H, 1st, 41.1; Andy Fenton: 800, 1st, 1:56.8; 1,600, 1st, 4:25.4; Jason Tanking: 400, 3rd, 53.5; Brantley Grace: High jump, 3rd, 6-2; Javelin, 4th, 163-8; 1,600 relay: 2nd, 3:35.9. Girls --- Jenny Tanking: Discus, 3rd, 97-0; Javelin, 4th, 101-8; 1,600 relay: 2nd, 4:26.2.

Worth noting: Fenton ran one of the top 800s in the state.

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: beat Maur Hill, 12-0; lost to Hayden, 4-2.

Worth noting: The top seed in the regional, West fell to Hayden for the third time in four years at the regionals.

Golf

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: 10th, 352.

Top performers: Chris Davis, 6th, 75.

Worth noting: Davis qualified for Tuesday's state meet at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, shooting a 35 on the back nine to earn his berth.

Softball

Last week's results: Class 4A regional: lost to Hayden, 5-0.

Worth noting: The Tigers were no-hit by Hayden.

Last week's results: lost to Pomona, 11-0 and 13-3; Class 2-1A regional: lost to McLouth, 9-6.

Top performers: Trent Lare: 3-4, 4 SB, 2B; Casey VandeVelde: 2-5.

Worth noting: The Tigers ended their season with the loss to McLouth at regionals.

Worth noting: The Vikings qualified for next week's 2-1A state tournament in Emporia.

Softball

Last week's results: Class 2-1A regional: beat Lyndon, 10-0; beat McLouth, 11-0.

Worth noting: The Vikings cruised through their regional to qualify for next week's 2-1A state tournament in Emporia, needing just 10 innings for the two wins. Mission Valley is 20-2 on the season.
