Navy Seaman Recruit Joshua L. Gross, son of Patricia Weisshaar, of Lawrence, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Air Force Airman Daniel P. Wilkes, son of Jan and Phil Wilkes, of Topeka, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Navy Petty Officer First Class Sandra J. Charles, daughter of Jerry and Elden Thomas, of Burlingame, recently received her sixth Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for three years of outstanding service at Navy Recruit District Minneapolis.

Jeremy M. Woodson, son of Howard and Alice Woodson, of Topeka, has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force after completing the Air Force ROTC program and graduating with a bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma, Norman.

Army Reserve Pvt. Tonya Y. Townsend, daughter of Denise Sanders, of Topeka, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.

Brandi D. Dodds, daughter of Roger and Patricia Dodds, of Topeka, has graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Knoxville, Tenn.

Air Force Cadet Andrew D. Dailey, son of John and Susan Dailey, of Ozawkie, has earned honors with placement on the Dean's List at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Navy Seaman Recruit Michael B. Foster, son of Robert Foster, of Olathe, and Nancy Foster, of Pomona, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.

Navy Lt. Cmdr. Louis T. Unrien, son of Louise and Louis Unrein, of Mayetta, recently returned from a deployment to the Arabian Gulf while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Constellation, homeported in San Diego.
