Racing

Topeka quarter midget racing will be Sundays at 11 a.m. at 1121 University Blvd. The races are for boys and girls ages 5 to 15.

Swimming

The Topeka Swim Association will be hosting the Missouri Valley Division II Championships July 25-27 at Blaisdell pool. Many of the summer league teams will be participating.

Sunflower State Games

The Sunflower State Games, featuring competition in more than 20 events, will be July 17-20 and July 25-27 at various locations in Topeka.

Hilary Pearson, age 14 of Topeka, will be one of three teens representing Soap Box Derby District 4, which is Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, in competition at the All American Soap Box Derby. The races will be July 26 in Akron, Ohio.

Hilary currently races in the Super Stock Division of soap box derby racing. She had the most points in District 4, followed by Loren Lammers of Blue Springs, Mo.

In order to qualify for this event, the participant must have competed in All American Soap Box Derby sanctioned rally races held in various cities and towns during the derby season. The United States in divided into 11 geographic districts and racers earn points by competing in these regional events.
