A Topekan has been identified as the woman killed in a hit-and- run accident this weekend in eastern Shawnee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol has reported that Amy Dawn Carrier, 30, of Topeka, was a pedestrian on US-40 highway when she was struck and killed at about 1:25 a.m. Saturday. According to a highway patrol accident report, she was hit near S.E. Stubbs Road, which is about four miles east of Topeka.

Lt. John Eichkorn, patrol spokesman, said troopers continue to investigate the case.

Carrier's body was discovered at about 8 a.m. Saturday by a Shawnee County sheriff's deputy, who was removing an animal from the roadway.

An obituary for Carrier was published in Wednesday's newspaper under her maiden name, Amy Dawn Southall.
