Mr.Van Vleck was a route salesman for Rainbo Bread in Topeka, later working for the Kansas Turnpike Association for five years before retiring in 1998.

He was a member of the American Legion and the Ridge Runners Bowling League at Gage Bowl in Topeka.

He married Glenna Shoaf. They were divorced. He married Jean L. Larson on Nov. 4, 1989, in Topeka. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Tammy Jo Mullins, Liberty, Mo.; a brother, Larry Glen Van Vleck, Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Alveda Sue Holiman, Independence, Mo., and Laura Beth Knight, Walnut Grove, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Ronald E. and Donald D. Van Vleck; a brother, Robert Van Vleck; and two grandsons, Matthew and Jeremi Van Vleck.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Klasse Chapel at First United Methodist Church in Topeka. Mr. Van Vleck will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial with military honors conducted by Fort Riley funeral detail will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens in Topeka.

Contributions may be made to the AIDS Memorial, the American Diabetes Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Association and sent in care of Davidson Funeral Home.
