Scene: Leadership seminar scheduled

A "Legislative Event for Advocacy in Faith" will take place Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 600 S.W. Topeka.

The program will start with registration and a continental breakfast from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m.

William Tammeus, editorial page columnist of the Kansas City Star, will speak during the 9 a.m. worship service.

Workshops and legislator visitation at the Statehouse are included. Lunch will be served at noon and closing worship will take place from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Registration fee is $18, which includes breakfast, lunch and workshop materials. Call Kansas Ecumenical Ministries at 272-9531 for more information.

- The Spencer Consort, of Lawrence, will present "Early Music from Bohemia" at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 1701 S.W. Collins.

The musical event will feature Baroque music from France and Bohemia using instruments from the 17th and 18th centuries.

An $8 donation is requested. Children will be admitted free.

- First Southern Baptist Church, 1912 S.W. Gage, will sponsor a workshop on "How to be a Great Small Group Leader" from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday.

Rick Howerton, director of training and events with Lifeway's Serendipity House, will conduct the training seminar.

The cost is $35 per person, which includes a Serendipity Interactive Study Bible. Call 272-0443 for more information.

- The Lawrence Chamber Orchestra, with special guest soloist Debra Scroggins Sowerwine, will perform a concert titled "Beautifully Baroque!" featuring musical selections from Bach and Handel at the next "Great Spaces" music and arts series concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, 701 S.W. 8th.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and seniors.
